TANDY’S ALEHOUSE has opened, today in fact! You’ll find it in Elizabeth Street, between Charles & Wellington Sts., half way down on the town side.
Just a little further down the street, we await official confirmation of the CURRY CLUB opening – no doubt another Indian Restaurant to add to the dining scene.

DELICIOUS LITTLE THINGS is now OPEN at the ex. Garden of Vegan & ex. Meat Bread Cheese site at 166 Charles St., Tuesday - Friday from 10am-3pm.
ZAMBRERO's MEXICAN opens on Tuesday, 27 September in the old FLIP BURGERS building - giving away 1,000 burritos from 12 noon to celebrate their grand opening.
YACHT CLUB FIFTY FIVE is on schedule to open early October at 7 Park St. (ex. Sails by the River) & will be opening for breakfast, lunch & dinner 6 days per week. AND, a new addition to the bar & restaurant will be JUICE BAR FIFTY FIVE - underneath, serving coffee, smoothies & juice all day.
TIMBRE KITCHEN has opened at Velo Wines with Head Chef Matt Adams (ex. Josef Chromy) at the reins. Only heard wonderful things!
CHARLIE'S DESSERT HOUSE should be open within the next couple of weeks, after the usual delays of opening a new business, sure to be a crowd pleaser. Situate Charles St., next to the ESSENTIAL HOMEBODY Shop.
Speaking of which, the Homebody Shop will be incorporating another concept in their store with their new ESSENTIAL HOMEBODY & TEA BAR, serving up tea & other goodies - see the story in today's Examiner READ STORY
RUSTY JACK'S - an authentic American BBQ restaurant is opening in town soon. Food will be cooked over wood in a proper smoker - no gas or electric ovens. One to get all fired up about ('scuse the pun') - stay tuned!
TASTY KOREA - has OPENED, in fact, this morning at 11am. Find them in the ex- Toro's Restaurant building in Charles St. Tasty Korea will be serving up fried chicken & beer!
The DINING ROOM - replaces Shamrock's at The Irish. With new owners & a new menu, the whole place has been refurbished and offers yet another dining choice for Launceston. Will be reviewing in the near future.

TASTY KOREA is opening where Toro's was, in Charles St.
DELICIOUS LITTLE THINGS will be opening at a date yet to be set, in the former Meat, Bread, Cheese shop at 166 Charles St. Raelene Bates has been pleasing the crowds with delicious little things from her little pop up van for some time now & is regularly seen at Harvest Market.
Aamarpali at Kings Meadows has changed hands & been revamped. It still serves Indian Cuisine but its new name is WELCOME TO DELHI. Early days ... the restaurant is now open for dine in & takeaways ... same phone no. as Aamarpaii's.
The Open that was opening as a restaurant, bar & accommodation on the corner of Boland & Tamar Sts., has sadly lost out to a group who will be reopening it as a gentleman's club - hmmm ... stay tuned.

Despite Aamarpali Indian closing in Kings Meadows, the site is being renovated & it appears that it will be retaining its cuisine, just a change of ownership.
PALLA CAFÉ situate where PX Tapas was, in George St., has closed down after a short stint.
The Dinner Belle opens in the Quadrant Mall soon (Leather Jacket site - 23-25 Quadrant Mall). Signage is up & it will be opening any day now.
Velo Wines has been sold & Matt Adams (ex. Josef Chromy Head Chef) is going in there with a rebranding of the restaurant to Timbre Kitchen. Can't wait!

We're well into the second half of the year - where has that time gone As usual, the Launceston Food Scene continues to evolve.
Fresh Café has closed its doors, hoping to pop up somewhere else in Launceston after the building was sold.
Open is opening. Well, that's what the sign says! On the corner of Tamar & Boland Sts., the old pub venue (most recently run as a 'girlie's night'), is re-opening as 'Open' & offering a bar, meals & backpacker accommodation. That's all I know. Hopefully someone can fill me in.
Charlie's Desserts - to open in Charles St. opposite the Star Bar - a late night & all day dessert joint with decadent desserts. Expect an all day breakfast menu together with desserts to make your sweet taste buds go to town - Raspberry Meringue Smash, Banoffee Pie, Tiramisu Mousse Pot, Chilled Cacao Mousse, Paris Crepes & Belgian Waffles Due to open on 17 September - 74 Charles St.
Sails by the River is no more - having decided not to renew their lease, a new crowd have come in and are currently renovating. Rebranding as Yacht Club 55 & planning to open in early October, at 7 Park St.
Aamarpali Indian, Kings Meadows has shut up shop. One of Launceston's most loved Indian eateries & takeaways, is no longer.
Exciting news that the old Flip Burgers drive through site is being transformed & will become a 'Zambrero's' Mexican Restaurant hopping aboard the Zambrero's chain with the already established venue Zambrero's in Hobart & newly opened Zambrero's in Devonport. Drive through will be a popular option and addition to the takeaway scene in Launceston.
Cinco Passiones (the House of Five Passions) is up & running - a curated drinks space all about enjoyment, indulgence & appreciation before or after dinner, theatre or show. Level 2 / 47a Brisbane St.
True Brew in the Centreway Arcade is no longer - it's now called Mr. Arrol's.

Henry's Launceston has now opened. Located in the old & established heritage building formerly known as the Northern Club located at 61 Cameron St.
It was a shock to hear that Launceston's sole Spanish Restaurant, Toro's has closed permanently.
A J's Indian Restaurant has popped up at 79a George St., opposite Alchemy & next to Kia-Ora Wood Fired Pizza (formerly Launceston Take Away & Saffron Café).
Kings Bridge Bar & Restaurant have not only released a new & fabulous winter menu, the RED ROOF is coming down - should be completed today - it will be great to snap some food pics. under more natural light.
Shots on Wax 147 John St., now offers a wider food menu - focusing on healthy options & of course, great coffee!
Pizza Pitt has evolved - formerly the Pitt Stop fish & chips shop in Pitt St., Riverside/Trevallyn - has rebranded as a pizzeria with the same owners.
Pizza Convicts is the newest addition to the eateries at the Penny Royal Adventures Complex, situated between the Iron House Brewery & the Penny Royal Restaurant & Wine Bar.

RECENTLY OPENED
Utsi Café in Perth has re-opened their doors & claimed back their space. Original owner, Colette Barnes & her Chef son, Julien De Sousa, are back in the refurbished church & are delighting their past & present customers.
Pasta Resistance has moved from the Quadrant Mall & set up shop on the ground level of Batman Fawkner Inn (ex. Garden of Vegan). They have rebranded as Pasta Resistance & The Eatery, opening early for breakfast (ooh la la ... pancakes on the menu) & going right through the day to mid-evening with a casual style of eating from a varied menu & their well known pasta dishes.
Liv-eat has relocated from St. John St. to the former Bakers Dozen store in Brisbane Street.
JJ's Bakery has opened another café, this time in Launceston. Those who enjoyed a coffee & cake etc. at the old Baker's Dozen Kmart Racecourse Crescent complex, will be thrilled to know that they once again can grab a bite to eat & drink in this convenient location.
Penny Royal Adventures now house the new Penny Royal Restaurant & Wine Bar, but many have been confused as to the dining options at the complex. The restaurant & wine bar offer a bar snack/smaller menu available on the deck aside the wine bar, overlooking the rock climbing, whilst their a la carte area is front & centre of the restaurant with a deck for outdoor dining.
Iron House sits adjacent to the restaurant & offers craft brews, beverages & a varied menu offering platter/food boards incorporating seafood, meat & cheeses.
Sushi Plus has taken over residence at the Fortune Wok site (ex. Tant Pour Tant) in Charles St., with freshly made sushi rolls, sashimi & beverages - eat in (small space) or take away.
Fresh Vegetarian Café has closed temporarily as the building was sold. However, they plan to open when they find the right place to suit.
Rossilli - the newest café to open - is run by well known brother & sister team. Italian is the cuisine & with the years of experience that Danny Rossilli has notched up, this should prove to be a real winner. It's situated in George St., between O'Keefe's Hotel & Café One0Six.
